Woof Woof... Adopt Me!

Below is a list of dogs the MHLRM has saved.  Please know we only have a limited number of dogs at one time.  We specialize on saving dogs from far-away places that may have no hope of life without us and are on death-row.  We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in.

Please be respectful of our volunteers' time.  That may come off the wrong way, but we are all volunteers and our time is spread between our love for saving dogs and our own personal lives.  If you are merely shopping and want to look around, do that before applying with us.  All the time that is put into MHLRM is done by volunteers, and we do this because we love to help dogs that have no voice without us.  We all have full time jobs and spend a lot of our personal time working for these dogs and it is very disheartening when people put in applications, go through the interview process, and then buy a dog from a breeder, buy a dog of a website, or go to the pound because they can't wait, or just keep shopping around.  Please be committed to adopting from us as we know we can find you a great rescue dog!

NOTE: If you are interested in adopting a lab you must first submit an Adoption Application. The process of reviewing applications may take one to ten days.  A phone interview and/or a home visit must also take place.  If you have specific questions about a particular dog, please first submit your application for adoption and after you are approved we will be happy to discuss which dog(s) you are interested in.  We can not guarantee that the dog that you are interested in will still be available after your application has been reviewed and processed.

Make Sure to SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN to read about all the dogs waiting for their forever families!

 Personality
Yampa - is a loving female yellow lab who lived her life on a chain, no trees for shade and a dog house that flooded when it rained.  Her world was a circle of dirt.  The owner overcompensated with food so Yampa has been on the "Where's the rest of my food??" diet and has already lost about ten pounds.  You would think with this kind of life, Yampa would be an introvert but she's quite the opposite.  She loves people and finds pure joy in running in the back yard playing keep away with other dogs.  She absolutely LOVES to have her belly rubbed and will gladly make it an easy thing for you to do by rolling over almost immediately.  Yampa learned crate training at her foster's home in Kansas and now actually enjoys sleeping in her kennel.  She comes when called, knows sit and has not had any accidents in the house.  She is settling down but is still very excited about  exploring the world outside of her bare ground chain circle.  She is working on not jumping (just tell her to sit and she stops ad sits) and digging for mice is an obsession to her.  She will need calmness and patience as she adapts to the wonderful world of having a family who shows her affection.

Yoder is the heavier of the two and today she is interested in a mole hole and where the little critter is hiding.  Yoder is a great dog that does not jump up on us and is not aggressive at all.  She is going to be awesome pet for some lucky family.  She should behave very well with kids but they would love to be free to chase kitties.  She could be taught not to chase cats.  These dogs are extremely intelligent and it should take little time to train them to do what is needed. They are both food motivated.
