The adoption process is as follows and can take up to two weeks to complete.
Remember -
The more open you are to gender, color and age, the more likely you are to find a dog quickly!
- Fill out an application (scroll down on this page)
- You will hear from us within one to ten days.
- If your application meets our requirements, we will check all your references first. Then our Application Volunteer will contact you for a phone interview.
- A home visit may be scheduled or a virtual home visit will be requested.
- Dogs visits are arranged after approval through the Adoption Coordinator.
- A formal Adoption Agreement is signed and then you go home with your new family member, a lovable Lab!
Minimum Adoption Donations are required:
| 8 weeks - 23 months | $250.00 |
| 2 years - 7 years | $225.00 |
| 8 years - older | $200.00 |
*Please know that all of our dogs are brought up to date on shots, are altered (spayed/neutered unless otherwise too young), and are microchipped. There is no additional feel for these things as it is included in the adoption donation.*
A check, payable to Mile High Labrador Retriever Mission (MHLRM) is required at the time of the adoption. (An additional fully refundable deposit check of $100 is also required for those labs too young or have not yet been altered at date of adoption.) These donations help with the costs of foster care, food, shots, micro chipping, supplies, veterinary treatment, and training. At times, the cost of a Lab in our care greatly exceeds the adoption donation.
MHLRM volunteers are available to help you with problems and answer your questions about caring for your Rescue Lab.
If, for any reason, the adoption is not satisfactory, you must return the Lab to MHLRM, as stated in the adoption contract.
MHLRM reserves the right to take back any Rescue Lab that is neglected, improperly cared for, has a serious temperament problem, or is allowed to run loose.
Please be respectful of our volunteers' time. If you are merely shopping and want to look around, do that before applying with us. All the time that is put into MHLRM is done by volunteers, and we do this because we love to help dogs that have no voice without us. We all have full time jobs and spend a lot of our personal time working for these dogs and it is very disheartening when people put in applications, go through the interview process, and then buy a dog from a breeder, buy a dog of a website, or go to the pound because they can't wait, or just keep shopping around. Please be committed to adopting from us as we know we can find you a great rescue dog!
