How to Adopt

Before an adoption, we consider the history, temperament, personality, and energy level of the Rescue Labrador for placement in a particular home. The placement process includes a written application and a phone interview and/or home visit of the potential adopter(s).

Fill out an application (click here). - Then...  Read below as to how the process goes...

The more open you are to gender, color and age, the more likely you are to find a Lab quickly!

  • You will hear from us within two weeks.
  • If your application meets our requirements, we will check all your references first. Then our Adoption Coordinator will contact you for a phone interview.
  • A home visit may be scheduled.
  • Dogs visits are arranged
  • A formal Adoption Agreement is signed and then you go home with your new family member, a loveable Lab!

Adoption Donations do apply:

All MHLRM are spayed/neutered prior to adoption or when age appropriate (puppies).

The adoption donation for Rescue Labs is $250 for young Labs to the age of 2.  For Labs from age 2 to 8 is $225.  And an adoption donation for a Lab 8 and older is $200..  A check, payable to Mile High Labrador Retriever Mission is required at the time of the adoption. (An additional deposit check of $100 is also required for those Labs too young to be altered at date of adoption.)  These donations help with the costs of foster care, veterinary treatment, and training. At times, the cost of a Lab in our care greatly exceeds the adoption donation.

MHLRM volunteers are available to help you with problems and answer your questions about caring for your Rescue Lab.

If, for any reason, the adoption is not satisfactory, you must return the Lab to MHLRM, as stated in the adoption contract.

MHLRM reserves the right to take back any Rescue Lab that is neglected, improperly cared for, has a serious temperament problem, or is allowed to run loose.
